​Self Defense! We do have students that compete in competitions. But our goal is to teach you how to defend yourself for real life situation's. We will teach you how to defend yourself on your feet with Wrestling, Clinch fighting, Takedowns from Judo as well as if the fight goes to the ground. The great thing about learning BJJ is that it comes with real-world applications! The self-defense techniques used in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training can be translated into everyday use to defend yourself. The goal is to be able to control your opponent while receiving minimal damage to yourselves. The majority of street fights end up on the ground, which is what makes this style of martial arts training so practical for real life!

I have always been active in athletics. I run, lift weights, and play basketball and lacrosse on occasion. Even with all that I was getting bored and frustrated with my workout routine. I had always loved martial arts and I earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do as a kid. I found Forged Self Defense and decided to take a trial week. I was hooked instantly! I started with only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu but have since grown into boxing and MMA as well. I find that it's an amazing workout and overall experience. The gym is clean and well outfitted with a large mat space, weight room, section of cage and numerous heavy bags. The instruction is top notch. Dennis, Mike and Alan are all in sync as instructors yet each brings a unique style to their lessons.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu(BJJ) might seem intimidating for a female however at Forged it is not. You are only pushed to your limit to maintain a safe workout. Everyone there, instructor and student alike, are there to help one another build their knowledge. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an amazing workout, which I would recommend to anyone, male or female, looking to learn self-defense and to get into great shape!

WHAT IS BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

I began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/BJJ at Forged Self Defense just over four years ago and it remains one of the best choices I've ever made.
